Neighborhood Vandalism

On Wednesday June 10, 2020 around 4am, June 10th, in the midst of all the protesting going on in the streets of Newark, NJ, my father Officer A. Knight's vehicle was vandalized and set on fire in front of his home. No one knows why this unimaginable disaster happened to my father's truck, especially since he has always treated people equally, with respect and always envisioned a better future for the neighborhood he not only grew up in but still lives in today.

When I heard about this I had to do something for this man, friend and father that not only looks out for his family but everyone else's as well. I'm also very grateful that my father wasn't hurt during this act of vandalism.

My father has always believed deeply in serving the community he lives in. If there was random trash on the street, he picked it up. If we were outside doing seasonal duties like raking leaves or shoveling snow, he would say, "let's do the neighbor's yard as well," and find a way to use his truck.

He used his truck for every challenge in his path. If you broke down or needed a jump-start, my dad and that truck was there to save the day.

My father not only used his truck to go to work, but it was also used as a means to create memories. He owned this truck for 16 years and I can't count how many times he loaded and unloaded his truck to move all his children to and from college alongside visiting his grand kids, hauling lumber, auto parts...pretty much whatever could fit in the truck.

Funds raised from this campaign will help go towards covering the expenses of a new vehicle so that he can continue to go to work and continue being a great man, friend, father and grand father. There has never been a more important time to support the people we love and care about. With everyone’s support we can help my father get back into a truck again and make it his favorite vehicle once again.

Thank you in advance. I know we are in hard times but we have to
look for one another.
