Neighborhood needs a Jazz Festival

Plans are in the making for another exciting Albina Jazz Festival tribute, set for August 11-12, 2018!  The last festival in 2017 turned out great, thanks to your help, as over $1500 was raised to help fund two days of great jazz music with outstanding local musicians.  There were many smiles, and tears of joy, as many who attended were moved in seeing the tribute to a forgotten chapter in Portland's history and hearing jazz music for the first time in decades inside the historic Dude Ranch Jazz Club building!  Many in attendance couldn't believe it!!
And so we are "BRINGIN' IT BACK!

Stephen Hanks, a member of the Albina Jazz Festival Board Committee, heard stories from his 86 yr old dad about the memories of several historic Jazz clubs during the 1940's-1960's that once existed in the neighborhood before the city bulldozed the clubs down to build a freeway and sports coliseum.  Many residents were forced to move, many lost their homes.  The Albina community neighborhood has suffered much over the decades from "urban renewal."

Your support will mean much in allowing the festival to promote and preserve the memories of the original Albina Jazz scene, and to help make this an annual tradition for Albina neighborhood.  The festival also honors the old timers still alive who remember that Portland Jazz era.
Your donation will help BRING BACK a long overdue tribute and festival to the city of Portland!  Please share.
