Massapequa Park Neighborhood Flag fund

Donation protected
Hello Neighbors,

My name is Brett Moore. My family and I live on the dead-end off Block by the park. Last year a few neighbors and I started The Block Blvd Flag fund, where we purchased and installed American Flags on 23 telephone poles with a street light. The goal was to raise ~$750 for the cost of the flags, and any additional funds collected would go to The Wounded Warrior Project.

I want to THANK YOU all so much for the success we had last year. We achieved the goal set in 24 hours, and we were able to donate over $1,000 to The Wounded Warrior Project.  Also, I was contacted by the Town of Oyster Bay and presented with a Certificate of Achievement for getting our neighborhood together to share this patriotism.
But wait, there's more… A fellow neighbor contacted Costco (where the flags were purchased), and Costco did a write-up on this initiative in the November Costco Connection.  We were so humbled by all this attention and happy that this got the attention of millions. Yes, millions, actually 15 million people subscribe to Costco connection. Maybe some readers in other states will do the same for their community.

We are looking to expand this year and add a few more streets with Flags. Richard Place, Lee Place, Robin Terrace, and Renee Place. I salvaged some of the Flags from last year, but some are not showing their true colors as mother nature took a toll on them. We still have the hardware from the Flags, and I will price it out for the best option. The goal this year is to collect $660. Block Blvd, Richard Place, Lee Place, Robin Terrace, and Renee Place have 37 telephone poles with a streetlight. Each American flag kit costs around $33.00 x 10 Flags for the added blocks + ~10 replacements= ~$660.

We will install the Flags before Memorial Day Weekend and remove them after September 11th.

If we surpass our target goal, we will donate the remaining funds to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Thank you,

The Moore Family
