Neema Crafts Audiology Project.

Donation protected

We are a group of 5 Audiologists and 1 volunteer, who are travelling to Neema Crafts in Iringa, in October 2024, to provide a self funded audiology service.
Neema Crafts started as an adult community initiative to help improve the quality of life for Deaf and disabled people, who are marginalised because of the stigma attached to Deafness and disability in their community.

Neema Crafts was started by Susie Hart in 2003, who trained 3 deaf young adults in paper making. There are now over 100 adults training or working with  carpentry, weaving, sewing, hospitality, print making, paper making and business skills.

Over the last 20 years we have provided hearing aids to all Deaf adults at Neema Crafts and from the wider community, in and around Iringa . We want to extend this service to the School for the Deaf in Iringa this year .

The School for the Deaf in Iringa is a boarding school housing 120 students aged from 7 to late teens.
Their communication is in Tanzanian sign language and Lipreading.

Our mission is to help improve their education and quality of life by supplying donated and reconditioned digital hearing aids.
We need to raise funds to purchase the materials needed to provide this life changing service for this community.

Be part of this project , and help us raise funds so we can pay for the donated digital hearing aids to be reconditioned, and buy the materials needed to make individual earmoulds for the hearing aids , as they are nonexistent or price prohibitive for this community.

Thank you,
Julie, Jane, Joyce, Bev, Ruth and Sarah
