Needing a helping hand to stay independent.

My dear Family and Friends,

For the last thirty years, I have been an independent and self-sustaining individual.  Unfortunately, during the last five years, my life has been spiraling out of control.  Sadly, I find myself in this situation through no fault of my own.  As a self-employed business owner I seemed to have placed all my eggs into one basket.  The secure foundation I built in my younger years is no longer there; the bottom fell out.  (Now I understand what that means.)   I have a willingness to work hard, extensive skills, and desire to rebuild that foundation.  However, there are no guarantees in life and I found myself unemployed and homeless.  I find myself now,  A single father, trying day by day to stabilize my life and financial situation.  As the saying goes… - most of us are only one paycheck from being homeless…. -

When I became unemployed, I found myself living in an apartment I could no longer afford and we had to move.   We hit bottom, supplementing my insufficient unemployment check with my credit cards, we were able to spend four nights during the week in a motel so my daughter could be close enough to town to attend her last year of high school and graduate.  Then on the weekend we would go to the city, split up and stay with family or friends. This crisis only made things worse financially as I had depleted my assets and my credit card balances were increasing steadily.  Relentlessly, I looked for an affordable apartment and stable employment as my debt increased and my credit suffered.  At this point, I began   working a per diem position.  The position was temporary/part time and I continued supplementing my income with credit cards.  After about six months, in September of 2016 - I was given a permanent position that was available.

This was a step up and I began treading water.

Shortly thereafter, on January 1st, I found an affordable apartment in town and close to the school.  I managed to get the apartment secured with what was left of my resources and doing side work.  My limited income has not been enough to sustain a car payment along with everyday needs and roof over our heads, which is my priority.  Despite my best effort to keep up, in the most recent weeks, my vehicle was repossessed.  Without a vehicle I now find myself with new dilemma.

I am living in an area with limited transportation and now my main source of mobility is gone.  It has been difficult getting to and from work without a vehicle.  My daughter is now in college and uses public transportation.  I am always seeking side jobs and other employment opportunities to supplement my income.  Now, I am likely to be precluded from those possibilities since my ability to get around has seriously limited my options. I am concerned not having a vehicle will impact on my employment and cause a serious setback.  I am in a permanent position; my status is on probation for one year.

I have been blessed with an opportunity through the consideration of the owner of

Jam Auto Repair located 1503 Main Street Peekskill, NY

Mr. Johnny said he has a vehicle and he himself has worked on it and he feels it is a sound mode of transportation.  He said he would be willing to work with me for the price of $4,100.  He has graciously offered to give me possession of the vehicle when he is paid half of the selling price.

Unfortunately, at this time I find myself in the most humbling positions of asking my family, friends and any other angels willing to help and donate whatever you are able to this cause.  I do not want to burden anyone but I am hoping every little bit helps and adds up to enable me to secure this vehicle for my mobility so I can secure my employment. And continue my independence.

Whether you are able to donate or not, I thank you for listening to me and may the Lord Bless you and your loved ones. Of course I am available to answer any questions, concerns.
