There is hope for the women and children who are bought and sold in human trafficking, and alternatives to prostitution and forced labour.
On April 14th, 2015 I will be returning to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to work with XPMissions for over 6 weeks. Our work will support women who are learning marketable labour and business skills so that they can leave prositition and poverty.
We will:
* interfere with human trafficking plans and forced abortions
*help with the launch of a pregnancy care centre
*work in 6 slum communities with feeding programs, children's programs, and community development
*bring a message of hope and value for life to schools, community centres, medical professionals' seminars, and churches
*walk the city to raise awareness about the issues
*host an extravagant banquet for women in prostitution to let them know that they are loved and valued
I'm raising $3000 to help cover my transportation and accommodations as well as some resources to help with the pregnancy care centre and the banquet.
What I've done - I've taken an unpaid leave of absence from work for the duration of the trip, and devoted a lot of my free time over the last months to facilitating a group of 15 other people who will join us the last two weeks of May for our outreach.
What you can do - donate! and let me know if you would like to be kept in the loop with regular email updates from Phnom Penh.
I have heard stories of amazing things that have happened as fruit of our small team's trip to Cambodia in 2014. This is a great way to invest in ongoing work that is making a difference. Let's do this!
