Braving The English Channel 4 Suicide Bereaved

Tax deductible
I am braving the cold waters of the English Channel this summer in support of those affected by suicide because I want to help break cycles of trauma. That's right, at least 21 miles alone, through hundreds of super-tankers, stinging jellyfish and ice cold water cold enough to kill,  across the busiest shipping lane in the world. And by the way, the number of strokes will likely be even more that day.

But why attempt this?

Because there’s a far bigger challenge and the chances are someone you know  - here in the UK or on dry land beyond - is facing it right now.

Last year in the UK alone, nearly 6,000 people took their lives. For every loss by suicide, an average of 130 people are affected. That is 780,000 people affect year on year,  some traumatised for a lifetime. Chances are, you know someone struggling right now but they have not told you.

So why not join me in making a difference? I'm raising money for Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide who provide an invaluable lifeline to people affected by suicide. Through their online forum, anyone can access an understanding and safe community to share their grief. They are also the UK's only charity with support groups stretching as far north as Scotland and as far south as Cornwall. But there simply not enough groups when we are still losing so many to suicide. That's why we need your support and any donation, big or small,  will help make a lasting impact for someone who might otherwise face their loss alone.

Their work is saving lives every day because they exist to meet the needs and break the isolation of those bereaved by the suicide of a close relative or friend. As many of those helping have themselves been bereaved by suicide, they offer emotional support, help and information in a number of ways. Their aim is to provide a safe, confidential environment, in which bereaved people can share their experiences and feelings, thus giving and gaining support from each other.

So please, let us help to keep this vital service growing.

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
