Kenzie's Cause

On March 29, 2012 Kenzie cut off her curly locks.  Yes, it was because she had been asking Mommy for months, but when Mommy finally said yes Kenzie learned a big lesson.  Mommy talked to Kenzie about how some children get very sick and lose their hair, like her grandma did.  Together they looked at pictures of people and children who had lost their hair.  That’s when she decided to donate her hair.  That was the start of Kenzie’s passion about helping the fight against cancer.  Kenzie lost her grandmother, and name sake, to cancer 6 years before she was born.  She was raised knowing what it is like to lose someone to cancer.  She doesn’t like the idea that cancer still kills people, and takes them away from the people they love, and that love them.  Last summer Kenzie raised nearly $150 for St. Jude’s selling her artwork at her big sister’s lemon-aid stand.  The supporters were cancer survivors, family of cancer survivors, or people who had lost someone to cancer.

This year for Kenzie’s Birthday Party we are asking friends to make a donation to St. Jude’s in stead of giving Kenzie a gift.  When Kenzie was told about this suggestion she was over the moon, and thought it was the greatest idea ever.  Very adorable! To make this reaction multiply we started this page in honor of our little warrior for a cure.  Kenzie’s birthday is at the end of March.  We are giving March our own cause, Kenzie’s Cause—Fighting Cancer!  On her birthday this page will be closed and the money it raised will be donated.

She is not running a race, or cutting her hair.  She is turning one year older.  She is celebrating her life, and she is hoping this money will help someone else celebrate another year of their life as well.

Thank you and God bless!

She will be splitting the donation between two causes:
