Ciao,

sono Matilde e da 8 anni mio padre vive in una prigione a cielo aperto che si chiama Regno Unito.

"Baba", come io lo chiamo, è palestinese e mia madre italiana. I miei genitori si sono trasferiti in Inghilterra nel 2011 e dopo poco si sono separati. Dopo qualche anno mia madre ed io siamo tornate a vivere in Italia mentre baba è rimasto lì per sfruttare le maggiori opportunità lavorative che l'Inghilterra gli offriva, con lo scopo di dare a me una vita migliore.

Tuttavia, il suo permesso di soggiorno inglese è scaduto nel 2017 e, ad oggi, lo Stato non glielo ha ancora rinnovato. Questo significa che lui non può muoversi da dove si trova perché non potrebbe farvi ritorno. Non può nemmeno venire a vivere in Italia perché l'ambasciata italiana a Londra non rilascia visti a chi non ha a sua volta un visto regolare per il Regno Unito e, per i motivi che stanno sotto gli occhi di tutti, non può tornare a vivere in Palestina.

La cosa peggiore è che, a seguito dell'ultima lettera di diniego dell'ufficio immigrazione, mio padre NON ha più il permesso per lavorare nel Regno Unito.

Mio padre è una bravissima persona e un gran lavoratore. Non si merita di avere la sua vita in stallo da 8 anni e di non essere messo nella condizione di provvedere a se stesso e alla sua famiglia. Tutto ciò è semplicemente disumano. Con questa raccolta fondi vorrei aiutarlo a pagare un anno di affitto, in attesa che la sua situazione si sblocchi una volta per tutte.

I'm Matilde, and my dad has been living in the open prison that is the UK for 8 years.

"Baba", as I call him, is Palestinian and my mum is Italian. My parents moved to England in 2011, and not long after they separated. A few years later, my mum and I went back to Italy while Baba stayed in the UK to take advantage of the work opportunities England offered, with the purpose of giving me a better life.

However, his visa expired in 2017, and so far, the State hasn't renewed it. This means that he cannot move because he wouldn't be allowed to go back. He can't come to live in Italy either because the Italian embassy in London won't give out visas to people who don’t have a UK visa and, for obvious reasons, he can't go back to live in Palestine.

The worst thing is that, after the last letter of refusal by the Home Office, my dad is NOT allowed to work in the UK anymore.

My dad is a good person and a very hard worker. He doesn't deserve to have his life at a standstill for 8 years and to not be able to sustain himself and his family. Everything about this is simply inhumane.

With this fundraiser, I'd like to help him pay for a year of rent in the house he lives in, waiting for his situation to resolve once and for all.
