Fundraising for a Cause: Supporting Vital Charities in Our Community

At Capita, we believe in giving back to the community and supporting those who need it most. This year, as part of National Customer Service Week, we are proud to be fundraising for three incredible charities whose work makes a real difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals: Age UK North Yorkshire & Darlington, Guide Dogs, and Hourglass.

Age UK North Yorkshire & Darlington

Age UK North Yorkshire & Darlington is a local, independent charity dedicated to enhancing the wellbeing of older people across the region. Their mission is to help individuals aged 50 and over live life to the fullest by offering a wide range of services including:

· Free, impartial advice and benefit support

· Day services and hot meal deliveries

· Befriending and social activities to combat loneliness

· Support with housing, care, and community engagement

Their work empowers older people to maintain independence, stay active, and feel connected to their communities.

Guide Dogs

Guide Dogs is one of the UK’s leading charities supporting people with sight loss. For over 90 years, they have provided life-changing services such as:

· Training and pairing guide dogs with blind and partially sighted individuals

· Mobility and rehabilitation support

· Emotional support and advocacy for children and adults

· Campaigning for accessibility and rights for those with vision impairments

Their iconic guide dog partnerships give people the freedom to live independently and confidently.

Hourglass (Safer Ageing)

Hourglass is the only UK-wide charity focused exclusively on ending the abuse, harm, and exploitation of older people. Hourglass offers:

· A free 24/7 helpline for victims and concerned individuals

· Advocacy, legal support, and safer ageing initiatives

· Training and awareness campaigns to prevent elder abuse

· Policy work to influence legislation and improve protections

Their mission is to ensure older people can live safely, with dignity and respect.
