Cara Projects

 Hi. My name is Ciara Costello and I am fundraising for my volunteer trip with Cara Projects to Nairobi, Kenya.

In January 2024 a group of volunteers and I will be travelling to Kenya for 2 weeks to volunteer in a girls rescue centre run by Cara Projects.

We need to raise at least €2,500 each. All funds raised will cover the cost to house one girl for one year, empowering her through vocational training, health promotion, education, gender equality, economic empowerment and sustainable development.

It has been proven that providing education to girls in marginalized areas helps reduce the number of child marriages and crisis early pregnancies amongst other issues and improves the overall socio-economic circumstances for these girls.

During our time there, we will carry out maintenance at the centre – painting, repairs, improvements, etc., along with helping the girls with computer skills, problem solving skills, etc.

As we are of similar age, we would like to help them by encouraging their self-belief, self-confidence & self-respect, things which are often overlooked in marginalized & vulnerable communities.

While learning is important for them, we hope that by spending time with us they will learn to play, have fun & have dreams, as we do.

Our aim is that the money raised & our time will help these girls become independent and able to support themselves in the future !
