NC4PR Hurricane Maria Relief Efforts

Puerto Rico is virtually destroyed. 100% in darkness – almost 4 million fellow American citizens, completely in the dark.

The island is in the middle of a crisis.

We at #NC4PR are building this movement from the ground up, a Grassroots movement.

Our grassroots movement is working hard to provide relief to Puerto Rico after the devastation left by Hurricane Maria. We are a coalition with Puerto Rico Rising – North Carolina and the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration (PRFAA).

*****This #GoFundMe campaign will help fund our on the ground operations:

- We received more donations than anticipated and we had to buy 70 pallets at $5 each = $450

- Every truck load transported within NC from our Raleigh processing warehouse to our storage warehouses in Garner and Fuquay-Varina cost $300. We have 9 truckloads worth of donations. We've already moved them once... = $2700 each time

- Thankfully our storage units have been donated by local businesses. We have 2 weeks to move the donations out and into Puerto Rico. However due to the political environment and shipping constraints, PRFAA and other non-profits have moved the shipping dates on us. We might overstay our welcome at our storage locations....

- We need funding for a contingency plan that moves the donations out of our storage units and into a more permanent, leased facility. = estimated $2500 + cost of moving.

North Carolina has a strong community of Puerto Ricans who would be happy and proud of seeing our current home state help our other home. This community has come together in the past 2 weeks driving our own efforts to assist our brothers and sisters that at this hour find themselves in the dark, with little contact with the outside world.

We will work hard, we will mobilize every resource at our disposal, and we will write 100 emails, with our hearts in our hands – but it will not be enough.

We hope you Join Us in this journey to #RebuildPuertoRico

Because #NC4PR will do its part!

All proceeds beyond what we need to operate, will be donated to United for Puerto Rico
