WWI Centennial Monument Project for NC

Tax deductible
A big thank you to everyone who has contributed to honoring our WWI heroes! We are happy to announce that we are at 96% of our goal! We are still looking for for any ancestors that served, please visit our website and fill out the form if you had any relatives that served in World War I. www.ncww1monument.org

Below are the levels of giving we seek, not including the major lead gifts that we are working on.

$200  - We hope anyone who wishes to honor their ancestor with a commemorative brick, placed in France adjacent to this monument, has this chance to do so. You will also be invited to the replacement monument ground breaking on the State Capitol grounds in Raleigh.

$1000  -   These families will be invited to the Dedication in Nauroy, France on September 29, 2019.  A dinner and reception by the Host Committee will be provided.  Transportation from St. Quentin, France to the monument site on the battlefield in Nauroy will also be provided.

$5000 - These contributors will be provided accommodations the night of the dedication, transportation from St. Quentin to Nauroy, France, recognition on site for the generosity, recognition at the US monument ground breaking, and a commemorative book for each child and grandchild explaining the importance of this important time.  Special recognition in the book highlighting the Unit activity of the donor’s ancestor will be provided.

Other – Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the effort is much appreciated.

Nearly 100 years ago on June 28th, 1919, the Versailles Treaty was signed, marking the end of The Great War.

As Volunteers, our job is to raise nearly $150,000,   placing two monuments, one in France to recognize the sacrifices our ancestors made.  Also, we seek to improve the documentation and record keeping of those who served from the North Carolina National Guard and to collect World War I memorabilia and records that should be available to researchers.

We have pledges for about 35% of our goal as we launch this effort. We will meet our target.

A detailed Budget and monument design and pricing are located on the website Blog under Budget/Design.  The monument is NC Granite from Mt. Airy and we have arranged free shipping, our graphics and printing have been donated.
