NBTA London need funds!
NBTA London has been campaigning relentlessly to stop the boat cull. Our continuous pressure has meant that CRT has failed totally to successfully enforce the safety zones, which had already been watered down due to boater opposition.
But CRT is always on the lookout for ways to attack our community. Nationally they have brought in the licence surcharge which means that by April 2028, boaters without a home mooring will be paying an extra 25% penalty on their licence compounded with above-inflation increase. The campaign has worked out licence fees are likely to rise for boats without moorings by between 64% and 130% over 5 years depending on the size of the boat. And in London they have introduced more and more chargeable moorings, costing £25 to £35 per night, in locations which had previously been free casual moorings. We have also seen an uptick in CRT enforcement attempting to limit boaters to six month licences, often supported by no or incorrect sighting data.
CRT has never thought of an idea to attack us which it doesn’t like. It pays lip service to our community’s value to the waterways while simultaneously pursuing any way it can think of to price or bully us off the water.
Our way of life is under threat from the barrage of boater bashing from CRT and co. We must continue to take on their agenda of ridding us from the waterways. But it takes money to do this, from campaign leaflets to the informative newsletters, banners and placards, amongst many other things.
NBTA London is totally dependent on the support of the boaters. If you are able to, please donate as much as you can and help ensure that we are a community that cannot be flushed away. Whether it is a single amount or a regular donation, your money will be used to protect our way of life.
