Support Climate Justice Activists

Spende geschützt
Please help support the Yale students and New Haven community members who have been arrested for pressuring Yale to take action for climate justice. In December, student and community activists came together to demand that the university instruct its fund managers to cancel the Puerto Rican debt they hold and to divest from fossil fuels. On March 4th, and again on April 2nd, activists returned to the Yale Investments Office to let the administration know it cannot ignore them and to call on Yale to take the stands for sustainability and climate justice that are so clearly urgent.

Once again, the administration refused to listen to its students. At the most recent sit-in the administration arrested 17 activists and issued each of them a $92 citation for trespassing—the total number of arrests this year is now over 80.

Many of the participants rely on financial aid for tuition, and it would be wonderful if we could all chip in a bit to cover the costs of their citations. It would be a beautiful gesture of support and gratitude toward all the incredible people who risked arrest and continue to put so much time and energy into this movement, fighting for the communities who experience the burdens of climate destruction.

In light of recent climate news, including the IPCC report and the NOAA climate report, it’s crucial to take definitive steps towards a greener tomorrow. Across the United States and the world, more and more people are recognizing the need for bold collective action on behalf of the planet and frontline communities. The action we are staging represent only one step in pushing Yale to play its part in that greater movement. We hope you’ll consider contributing anything you can offer in support!

My name is Moses Goren, and I'm a first year Yale student who was among the activists arrested on March 4th. I will withdraw funds in my name, and venmo the other activists directly. All money donated here will go directly towards paying the citations issued to these activists, so they don't have to shoulder the financial burden of fighting for their university to take a moral stand.
