Navigating Stormy Seas: Helping a Friend Find Legal Calm

Life is unpredictable and no one enters into marriage with the thought that it won’t last and in divorce there are NO winners.

Unfortunately, that’s where my friend Ashlee finds herself now. Following the dissolution of her almost 10 year marriage, Ashlee is in the midst of a legal battle to maintain custody of her 3 beautiful children and receive adequate assistance to support the kids and the household. It’s difficult to express how undeserving they all are of the fallout of divorce.

I have known Ashlee since we were 15, and I have seen her grow through many stages of her life. It’s been a blessing to see her as a mother. Ashlee’s devotion to her children is unmatched; and she has been the primary caretaker of her children during every developmental experience thus far. Through it all, she has worked full-time and provided a safe and enriching environment for the children to thrive. If you were to ask the kids what their favorite part of the day is, they will undoubtedly say it's snuggling with Mama and reading a book together.

To ensure she is able to maintain balance and normalcy for the children, Ashlee needs help paying for an attorney to represent her in family court, and for the various legal fees that accumulate when going through divorce proceedings.

If you know Ashlee, you know she is reluctant to ask for help. As a member of her village, I wanted to try to find a way to assist her financial and mental burden during this difficult time in her life.
