NavajoStrong for the Navajo Commmunity

Now is the time to help and be #Navajostrong! NavajoStrong is a grassroots Native-led organization formed to aid the Navajo reservation.

The Navajo Community is home to over 173,000 Native Americans who
operate under their own tribal authority. As of May 19, 2020, it has surpassed. New York and New Jersey with the most infections per capita.

For the past few months, we've been delivering essential supply bins, water, and other home goods to the Navajo community on the Navajo reservation. The supply bins we've been dropping will help those who can't leave their homes. We get the supplies right to their doorstep if we can, and we also drop off supplies at local chapter houses to be distributed. We've delivered close to 300 bins to families in need as well as 6 local chapter houses.

Our mission: NavajoStrong was created to aid the Navajo Community during the COVID-19 pandemic and economic crisis.

Our goals: Assist the vulnerable families and at-risk individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic and economic crisis by providing them with water, food, and enough essential supplies, such as hand sanitizer, soap, and cleaner to last least 2 weeks.
Empower the people by providing them written education regarding the disease, resources for help, and knowledge about the disease. We aim to provide information in both written Navajo and English language.
Because some people cannot drive to community distributions or travel on the weekend, we serve those who live in remote areas who cannot travel due to quarantine, lack of transportation, or other factors.

We strive to honor our ancestors and empower the Diné by working hard to help citizens who are affected by disease, poverty, and other health disparities on the Navajo Reservation.

Our team has access to purchase bulk items like water, bleach, hand sanitizer, paper towels, gloves, beans, flour, and SPAM. For things like toilet paper, we have volunteers to purchase them one at a time due to the restrictions at retail stores.

It's heartbreaking to think that I can take a quick trip to the store and buy TP, yet there are thousands of people on the reservation who have to drive hours to get to a Costco and have to hope that toilet paper or bleach is available.

Each supply bin for families contain at least:
1 bottle of bleach or Lysol
1 box of (100) gloves
4 cloth masks
Hand sanitizer - 1 bottle and 1 travel size
2 bars of soap
1 bottle of hand soap
1 package of baby wipes
1 disinfectant wipe (if available)
Paper towels, 4 rolls
Toilet paper, 12 rolls
Water, 2 cases
A hygiene kit of toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, lotion.

We also get food for families that are in need. The food bins contain everything listed above plus canned food, flour, beans, and whatever else is donated including diapers, briefs, pull-ups, dog & cat food, chicken feed, and other items.

I am messaged daily by people in need. Currently, we have over 600 families who have asked for help.

Our list is growing. And NavajoStrong is growing!
Help and be a part of this amazing movement! We are striving to empower the Diné people during this pandemic! #Dinebidziil

We have currently filed to become a recognized 501(c)(3) organization, so please reach out to us if you need a receipt for your donation! [email redacted]
