Navajo Nation COVID Crisis Funding - Meghan Gupte
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Meghan Gupte.
The Navajo Nation is a Native American territory which occupies portions of Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico. It is a wonderful community of Indigenous Americans who have contributed greatly to this country. Unfortunately, this community is often taken for granted and not supported.
Today, the Navajo Nation needs our help. COVID-19 has disproportionately affected minorities and Native Americans in our country. The Navajo Nation itself has seen the highest infection rate per capita in the USA. The Navajo Nation is in need of an efficient response to this public health crisis. Having seen the living conditions of the Navajo people during my trip to Arizona last year, I can see why it would be difficult for them to cope with this terrible pandemic.
For my 18th birthday this year, I would like to donate to organizations which would directly help the Navajo Nation deal with COVID-19. If possible, please consider donating to this gofundme in honor of my birthday! The donations will be split among the following organizations:
1) Navajo & Hopi Families COVID-19 Relief Fund: The largest grassroots relief fund right now, organized by Diné community members. They do constant deliveries of supplies, food, goods, aid.
2) Dr. Michelle Tom's Cause for Navajo Nation to Fight Covid-19 through United Natives
3) Orenda Tribe COVID Response: Spearheaded by Diné clothing brand Orenda Tribe, this response fund is a collaboration with NDN Collective to bring critical aid to those most in need on the Navajo Nation. They do daily deliveries.
4) Dennehotso Families Covid-19 Relief Fund: Grassroots collective started in part by Navajo chef Brian Yazzie with a mission to provide food and necessities to elders and families in need during the pandemic, focusing on Dennehotso, AZ and surrounding areas.
Your support will mean the world to me. The Navajo Nation has deep roots and history in this country. As Americans, it is in our nature to uplift those who are underprivileged. We have a responsibility to step in to help our fellow Americans when they are in need. If possible, please contribute to this fund. It would be much appreciated. Thank you so much.
