Navajo Nation Clothing Drive Shipping Cost

On September 5th, I had organized and coordinated a clothing drive for the Navajo Nation. When COVID-19 first hit, the Nation requested government assistance. In return all they received were body bags . This is beyond unacceptable. This is the government laughing at the hundreds of years of genocide and cultural assimilation. This is the government disrespecting burial practices of not only the Navajo Nation but all tribes on this stolen land. As of recently, the Nation passed it's first day with no new cases since the pandemic hit on March (https://www.kob.com/albuquerque-news/navajo-nation-reports-no-new-covid-19-cases-for-the-first-time-since-pandemic-began/5856577/)
Now that the winter is almost here, clothes are more than essential. Even if we weren't coming close to winter, think about the joy YOU get when you get new clothes whether it be from a thrift store or a high end fashion brand. Clothes keep us safe and warm and most of all they provide a way of expression in which we can feel comfortable and most ourselves in.
This idea was spread out from friends to family and even ended up on Next Door Neighbor! The people of San Jose, the Bay Area in general, really did show up.
My goals for this drive was to fill up 10 Extra Large Heavy Duty boxes.
WE SORTED AND PACKED 127 BOXES!
One Hundred and Twenty Seven
Each box weighed around 65 pounds..
127 Boxes with 65 pounds of clothes is never something i would have thought we would achieve. I am beyond grateful and hopeful of our community and the people that strive to make this world a better place.
Now we need more help! Shipping is costly and USPS is way too expensive to ship all these. We found an alternative, FedEx, that will help us.
If you could donate any amount to reach our goal, that would be amazing. Beyond amazing, you would be aiding in changing people's lives for the better.
