Hi friends and community,
My name is Miriam, and I am writing this with the full knowledge, consent, and blessing of Nathan’s parents.
After nine long years of courageous and relentless cancer treatment, beginning when Nathan was just six years old, Nathan, his family, and his medical team have reached the heartbreaking conclusion that there are no further curative treatment options. At this point, care has shifted to palliative and hospice support, with the focus on comfort, dignity, love, and time together.
I am setting up and managing this GoFundMe on behalf of Nathan and his family so they can focus their energy where it matters most right now: being together, making memories, and loving Nathan, without the added weight of financial stress, logistics, or communication demands.
As someone who has personally experienced unimaginable loss, I know two things very deeply:
- How overwhelming it is to walk through life-altering tragedy
- How helpless people on the outside can feel when they want to help but don’t know how
This fundraiser is meant to gently bridge that gap.
With the family’s agreement, I will serve as a point of contact and buffer, answering questions, sharing family-approved updates, and helping manage communication, so Nathan’s parents don’t have to spend precious emotional energy navigating messages or logistics during this time.
All donations will go directly to the family. Their bank account and payment platforms are securely connected to this fundraiser. The goal of this fundraiser is to surround Nathan and his family with tangible support during this sacred and painful season. Funds raised may help with:
- Medical expenses accumulated over nine years of cancer treatment
- Palliative and hospice-related care costs
- Memory-making experiences: trips, activities, or simple joys allowing the family to be fully present with Nathan without financial fear
- Counseling and mental health support for Nathan, his parents, and his siblings (both now and in the grieving season ahead)
- Support for Nathan’s siblings, who have lived for years in the shadow of illness and sacrifice, ensuring they feel seen, loved, and supported
- Funeral and memorial expenses, so the family is not burdened with financial stress during a time of profound grief
