Natalie’s Trek to Machu Picchu to raise funds for DPJ
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Natalie, and I’m excited to share that I’ve taken on the challenge of hiking Machu Picchu with Team DPJ in May 2026!
This isn’t just an adventure—it's a mission to raise vital funds for The DPJ Foundation as we celebrate its incredible 10 year journey of making a difference in the communities of Wales.
The DPJ Foundation holds a special place in my heart. It was founded by one of my closest school friends, Emma, following the tragic loss of her husband Daniel Picton Jones to suicide.
Emma’s vision was to create specific support for individuals in the agricultural sector—a community that unfortunately carries one of the highest rates of suicide due to isolation, financial concerns, physical work and uncertainty.
Over the years, It’s been a pleasure to work closely with the foundation, I am proud to support as a Trustee, call handler, and Regional Champion. Through these roles, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of The DPJ Foundation’s work in breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health in Wales' agricultural sector.
One of the foundation’s initiatives is the ‘Share The Load’ scheme, a 24/7 call and text line operated by Samaritan-trained volunteers, ensuring anyone in need can access support at any time. Further to the initial contact, callers requiring further assistance are connected with local counsellors within 48 hours, a critical process in delivering timely care.
Beyond their immediate support, The DPJ Foundation is committed to educating communities through their training programs, individuals learn to recognise the signs of poor mental health and gain the confidence to seek help for themselves or others. These efforts have strengthened understanding and fostered resilience across Wales and beyond.
In 2023, the foundation also introduced a series of children’s books aimed at helping young minds cope with family bereavements. Distributed widely in schools, these stories provide comfort to children who may find it hard to express their feelings, and plans are underway to write further books.
This hike is a challenge to highlight the decade of life-changing work while ensuring that The DPJ Foundation can continue to grow and support even more people in the years to come. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference.
Please consider supporting me and this amazing cause by donating today. Together, we can help The DPJ Foundation continue its mission of saving lives and spreading awareness.
Thank you for your support and generosity.
