Children of Uganda
I met a woman and a group of children who have truly touched my heart.
Short story: these children are underprivileged orphans who are struggling to survive.
Long story: While doing my daily dose of mindless instagram scrolling, I found myself befriending another page created by a woman in Uganda, who took responsibility of taking care of a group of 21 orphaned children. Her page is basically dedicated to trying to raise awareness to their reality, which was something that I realized I personally, was very out of touch with.
(Check it out: @nandi_childrens_foundation)
I scrolled through photos of children falling asleep on hard surfaces without blankets or pillows. Photos that made me realize that their basic needs aren’t being met. That it’s 2021, and while I am sitting here on my phone, thinking about what I want to add to my amazon shopping cart... these kids are on the other side of the world right now without enough clothing and food to sustain them. And here I am befriending them and video chatting over social media.
After chatting and becoming friends with this woman, the whole “starving kids in Africa” truth really hit me different. It used to just be something my mom used to tell to me when I didn’t eat all my food. And I remember seeing a commercial on T.V asking for donations for the starving kids in Africa.
The fact is, there are many groups of underprivileged people all around the world who need HELP and are not connected with these mainstream charities advertised on TV. or in churches. These people are starting to reach out in whatever way they can, such as social media, to try to connect with others of us around the world who don’t truly realize the truth of their reality.
I could honestly keep writing but I want to get to the point. This gofundme is dedicated to helping the children in Africa get their basic needs met, and hopefully more!!! Food and water, clothing, mattresses and blankets, medical care such as malaria treatment and vaccinations. I would love to show them as much love and support as possible so that they can afford everything that they truly deserve ❣️ which is so so much.
I feel so strongly for them. It already is heartbreaking for a child to lose their parents, but to also struggle to survive truly breaks my heart. After truly realizing all of this, there is no way I could ever turn my head away from this reality.
$2 is enough money to feed 1 child, three meals a day!! So as you can see, even the smallest amount makes a difference. There are many hungry children that we want to love and support!
All proceeds will go directly into the bank accounts of these caretakers.
By bringing your awareness and concern to this situation, you are not just helping them- you are also helping yourself by deepening your awareness to other concerns in this world and opening your heart more + your capacity to be compassionate.
