Nanchang Project - Jiangxi Adoptees
Donation protected

While in China, in addition to our work with the media, we also walked the streets of Nanchang in order to speak with people about our mission. Prior to travel, we had created business cards with our social media contact information and a description of our project. We wore lanyards with our QR codes on the front and a picture of our child on the back side. We handed our cards out to taxi drivers, at gas stations, hospitals, and at popular tourist sites in Nanchang.
Our message was very well recieved both by journalists and the general public.

The Nanchang Project exists to help Chinese adoptees reconnect to their roots in China. To fulfill that mission, the Nanchang Project's main goals are as follows:
1. To provide Chinese adoptees with a greater sense of identity by giving them access to their birth culture.
2. To reconnect Chinese adoptees with their birth families when possible.
3. To educate the general public on the complex issues that make children available for adoption.
4. To provide emotional support to birth families.
5. To provide support to families who adopt domestically within China.
We believe that it is vitally important to give a platform to adoptees, so that their voices may be heard in the US and in China. Our hope is to provide adoptees with a sense of ownership in this project, and a sense of pride in the work that they will be doing alongside adoptive parents, and on behalf of other adoptees and adoptive families.
We believe that our children deserve to understand and know their rich and beautiful Chinese heritage and culture. We are proud to parent beautiful children from China, and we wish for our children to grow up with a sense of pride in who they are, in where they come from, and in the fact that they are adopted.
Where will the donations go?
* 8/23/18 update * We are currently planning our second trip to Jiangxi, slated for end of December. We are hoping to cover the travel expenses for two adult adoptees to accompany us. Beyond this year, we hope to travel to Jiangxi twice a year to speak about our initiative. These trips will include press and, perhaps more importantly, time visiting the towns and villages throughout the province. This will allow us the opportunity to connect with people who may not have access to social media or television. Raised funds will go towards our trips, guides, translations, marketing materials to hand out to the public, and media kits for press. We anticipate our goal of $10,000 to help cover 4 people's (Erin and Faith, plus 2 adult adoptees) travel expenses to China, along with materials needed while there. Our work is 100% volunteer based.
