Hello family and friends, I write to y’all with a heavy heart, as I seek help from you and your close ones. My name is Edna and I am fundraising for my mom’s battle against breast cancer. On August 29th of this year, 2 days after my moms 49th birthday, we received a call that turned our world upside down. My lovely mother, a devout Catholic, hardworking mom of 3, amazing wife and best Nana to my baby boy, was diagnosed with triple-negative invasive ductal carcinoma. Unfortunately, triple-negative breast cancer is more aggressive, harder to treat, and typically spreads very quickly (my mother’s is at an 80% proliferation rate (rapid reproduction of a cell)). With the rate of her cancer spreading, limited resources, and limited time frame, my family and I had to make a quick and tough decision. My mother has now relocated and moved to Mexico to seek medical help. So far she has completed multiple doctor visits, an MRI, bone scan, CT scan, and lab work, all which we’re extremely necessary, as they would let us know if the cancer has spread. With treatment needing to be started ASAP, my mom has been able to get her mediport (catheter in which chemo is given) placed and first round of chemo. She has suffered some side effects already such as the nausea, regurgitation, loss of appetite, hair and many more, all while being away from her immediate family. As a healthcare professional myself, it’s my worst nightmare, but even through this nightmare my family and I are full of faith!!! We are thankful and blessed that we have been able to accomplish this so far, but unfortunately we have have reached some speed bumps. Even with the resources available, some of my moms chemo treatments are going to have to be paid out-of-pocket. This is where I ask for your assistance, my mothers treatment plan as of now consists of 4 rounds of chemo, 1 infusion every 3 weeks, followed by imaging to see if the cancer has reduced in size. If so, a double mastectomy will follow, along with a total hysterectomy. However, more chemo will likely have to follow, with her receiving 1 infusion every week. As we all know cancer treatment is expensive and we are trying our best to exhaust all of our resources, but we have reached a point where we need a helping hand. Hola familia y amigos, les escribo con gran pesar, ya que busco ayuda de usted y sus seres cercanos. Me llamo Edna y estoy haciendo esta recaudación de fondos para la batalla de mi mamá contra el cancer de mamá. En Agosto 29 de este año, 2 días después del 49 cumpleaños de mi madre, nuestro mundo cambió para siempre. Mi linda madre, dedicada a su Dios, trabajadora mama de 3, increíble esposa y Nana de mi niño, fue diagnosticada con triple negativo cáncer de mamá ductal invasivo. Desafortunadamente ese tipo de cancer es más agresivo, es más difícil de tratar, y se desparrama más rápido (el de mi mamá esta en un nivel muy alto que es 80%). Con la rapidez en cual su cancer se puede desparramar y los limitados recursos, mi familia y yo tuvimos que hacer una decisión rápida. Mi mamá se a movido para Mexico para encontrar ayuda médica. En este tiempo le han hecho varios estudios de imágenes y análisis de sangre, necesarios para asegurar que no se ha desparramado el cancer. Con ella necesitando tratamiento inmediatamente, ya le eh podido poner su catéter para la quimo y a podido recibir su primer ronda de quimioterapia. Ella ya a sufrido algunos efectos secundarios de la quimo y todo mientras estando lejos de su familia cercana. Cómo alguien en la profesión médica, esto es un pesadílla. Pero aunque estamos pasando esta pesadilla, mi familia y yo estamos llenos de Fe. Estamos agradecidos que emos llegado aquí, pero emos también llegado a un punto donde necesitamos su ayuda. El plan de tratamiento para mi mamá requiere de una infusión de quimo cada 3 semanas, 4 veces, siguiendo con las cirugías de mastectomia bilateral, histerectomia, y después mas quimioterapias. Cómo todos sabemos el tratamiento para el cancer es caro, y estamos tratando de usar todos nuestros recursos, pero emos llegado a un punto donde necesitamos ayuda. Espero que nos puedan ayudar con una donación, para poder pasar este punto vital en la recuperación de mi madre! Que Dios me los bendiga a ustedes y sus familias!
