Hello everyone,

I’ve never made a GoFundMe page before, but I’m compelled to do so for a very good reason now, and that is my friend Nakia.

If you’re lucky enough to know Nakia, then you know that she embodies many wonderful things. She is the definition of a compassionate person, a super mom, and a hard worker. She and her husband Abdul have been doing everything right to try to provide for their two children and keep their family afloat in these hard times.

… However, life doesn’t always reward those who do right. Hardships can hit at anytime, and for each one you’re dealing with, it can make you that much more vulnerable to others. Nakia and Abdul have been doing their best to overcome several setbacks for a quite some time, but lately it has all built up into a perfect storm that they shouldn’t have to face alone.

All four of them have been living on one salary while Abdul has been diligently seeking work - they incurred unexpected health insurance costs due to an administrative mix-up that was no fault of their own - the only car for their household just required a $2000 emergency repair - and most urgently, National grid is threatening to shut off their electricity this week.

The goal amount on this fundraiser is what it would take to overcome the most urgent bills and expenses the Brown family is facing right now, and will help ensure that they remain housed and provided for while they work to regain their own footing… And they are working very hard.

Again, life can be unfair to those we love. But if we come together, we can be a force that makes things more fair for this family. Whatever amount you can give, no matter how small, will make a huge impact in their lives. Thank you so much for your consideration.
