NAIDOC Week Fundraiser
Donation protected
For this year’s NAIDOC Week, SOFI is hosting a bake sale to raise funds in support of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities —particularly the Traditional Owners of the land on which we study and work: the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong Boon Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation.
We acknowledge that these lands were never ceded and that the ongoing impacts of colonisation continue to affect the culture, health, and wellbeing of First Nations peoples.
While we cannot undo the past, we believe in supporting initiatives that celebrate Aboriginal culture, promote self-determination, and strengthen community. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps make a difference. We deeply appreciate your support.
This fundraiser is to support grassroots cultural activities in Lajamanu, NT. Lajamanu is a remote Warlpiri community in the north Tanami Desert, about 900km northwest of Alice Springs and around 900 km southwest of Darwin. All fund raised will go towards supporting Warlpiri elders and the next generations to carry our cultural activities at the ceremonial grounds in the heart of Lajamanu, with their aim to rejuvenate traditional culture. This includes buying things like fuel, supplies and food like kangaroo tail from the ALPA shop. Funds raised will be managed by community organisation Yandamah Indigenous Corporation.
