We, the Nagle View Turbine Aware Group need your help.
In November 2023, An Bord Pleanala granted planning permission for a Windfarm development in our community consisting of 22 wind turbines with a maximum tip height of 169 metres (almost twice the height of the Statue of Liberty) and a maximum rotor diameter of 138 metres along with battery storage units and all associated ancillary works.
This development will have devastating effects on our community and will directly impact people living in the areas of Glenville, Carraig na bhFear, Mourneabbey, Killavullen, Whitechurch, Grenagh, Ballyhooly and Castletownroche.
The Turbines are being placed too close to homes and are "regulated" by the Irish Wind Energy Guidelines 2006, which are now 18 years old! Technology has changed drastically since 2006 and Turbines have almost tripled in height since then, yet our Government has done nothing to protect communities and home owners who are forced to live in close proximity to these large industrial developments in rural areas.
This is a very worrying and stressful time for our community as wind farm developments are known to have adverse effects on human health as a result of noise and shadow flicker, they have adverse effects on livestock, resulting in reduced milk production for farmers and their very presence results in property and land devaluation in the area.
The Nagle Mountain range and surrounding areas are also home to some of Ireland's most precious wildlife including the Hen Harrier and Freshwater Pearl Mussel, however, this development will wipe out these wildlife and turn a beautiful scenic part of rural Ireland into an industrial pin cushion for the rest of Europe!
We simply cannot sit back and let this happen.
We have launched a High Court action to try and stop this development; however, due to the cost of the proceedings, we cannot do it alone and we need your support.
All money raised will be used to cover court fees, expert fees, solicitor and barrister’s fees, and other costs related to the High Court proceedings.
Please donate whatever sums you can to help our fight, we really would appreciate your help!
Donations can be made anonymously where preferred.
