On Monday April 19th, @ 4:40 pm we welcomed our sweet grandson Christopher Jacob Noel Marion weighing 7.6 lbs and 21 inches long. On Tuesday morning CJ nurse came in to check and noticed that CJ was still cold to touch so she checked his core temperature. It was only 94.1 degrees and in babies they want it to be around 98 degrees. Aimee and CJ tried skin to skin to get core temp up, but unfortunately did not work. He was dangerously close to hypothermia. The nurse took him for our daughter Aimee and hauled him to the nursery and put him under a heat lamp. The doctor came in and said not only was CJ core temp down but so was his oxygen. Throughout the day CJ’s breathing only got worse even being on 4.5 liters of oxygen, so doctor had him air lifted to Lubbock and he is at Children’s Covenant Hospital in the NICU. Dr.’s here in Lubbock our trying to rule out 3 things heart, blood infection, or under developed lungs due to being born at 36 weeks. At this point there are still a lot of unknowns including if it is really the heart we are waiting results of the echo performed yesterday afternoon. CJ has received a treatment directly to lungs and has being making small improvements since then. We are still not out of the woods, but our sweet boy sure is a fighter. We will be speaking to the doctor to get test results today to find out the way we need to go. Thank you for all the thoughtful words and prayers we have been receiving.
