We are Many Hands — a community programme creating spaces where people can talk about addiction and find support through faith and community, with a particular focus on young people.
Remembering Amanda McLoughlin
Following the recent passing of our dear friend Amanda McLoughlin, we wanted to acknowledge her support for Many Hands and the important part she played in helping to share its vision with others.
“Right from the outset Amanda was a convictional presence in the Many Hands team. There was no doubt in her mind that we would accomplish what we had been called into. She was a prayerful participant, offering encouragement and inspiration. She had the heart of Many Hands.
Connected to lots of people, she spread the word far and wide, bringing support and participation. She was a champion.”

CURRENT FUNDRAISING EVENTS
We are continually raising funds to support this work, with a number of events helping to drive that forward.
Many Hands Seed Marathon – September 2026 | Many Hands Marathon – May 2027
The Many Hands Seed Marathon will take place on 27th September 2026. It is the first step towards establishing an annual marathon in Zambia, with funds raised helping to lay the foundations for the full Many Hands Marathon planned for May 2027 in Monze, Zambia.
The Seed Marathon will help us develop and establish the event itself, while the April 2027 marathon will provide a larger platform for the ongoing work of Many Hands in Zambia.
Together, the two events will help raise awareness of addiction, recovery, mental wellbeing, and hope, while supporting community-led responses and the wider work of Many Hands Foundation. These events form part of a wider, ongoing effort to support communities in Zambia through relationship, participation, and shared ownership.

WHAT YOUR SUPPORT ENABLES
This GoFundMe supports the ongoing work of Many Hands in Zambia, particularly in communities around Chisekesi and Lochinvar in Monze District and around Chikankata Hospital and District.
Your support helps create and sustain spaces where people can talk openly about addiction and find support through faith and community. It enables persons to be supported in recovery, young people to step out of cycles of substance abuse and into purpose, and communities to grow in understanding, connection, and shared responsibility.
It also allows us to respond to practical needs as they arise — including projects such as the development of boys’ dormitory facilities and other community-based initiatives.
"Restoration happens in relationship"
At the centre of this work is a simple belief: that lasting change happens in relationship — with God, with ourselves, and with one another.
HOW WE WORK
Many Hands works alongside communities to respond to addiction, substance abuse, and mental health in a way that is relational, faith-grounded, and locally owned.
We create space for open conversations that build understanding and reduce stigma, walk alongside persons in recovery, and support the development of community-led networks that can sustain this work over time.
Alongside this, we are developing safe spaces for counselling and wellbeing, engaging with young people to build hope and purpose, and exploring opportunities that provide skills, dignity, and a renewed sense of identity for those in recovery.
This work is shaped and carried by a committed team in Zambia, with local leadership and ownership at its core.
HOW IT STARTED
Many Hands began following a visit in February 2022, when connections were made with the community in Lochinvar, including the local school and families from the Twa community.
Conversations highlighted real challenges — including basic living conditions for boarding pupils and limited local facilities. Out of these relationships, Many Hands was formed in response, with a desire to support both practical needs and the wider community.
Over time, this has grown into a wider focus on addiction recovery, prevention, and community wellbeing.
Many Hands Community Project is now a registered Foundation in Zambia.
