We are Many Hands — a community project creating spaces where people can talk about addiction and find support through faith and community, with a particular focus on young people.

Many Hands Community Project is now a registered Foundation in Zambia.

CURRENT FUNDRAISING EVENTS

We are continually raising funds to support this work, with a number of events currently helping to drive that forward:

Bike Ride – 30th May 2026 – Guildford to Shoreham-by-Sea. This event is specifically raising funds towards the development of boys’ school dormitory facilities at Lochinvar Primary School.

Many Hands Marathon – 27th September 2026 - Monze, Zambia (route TBC). This will be the first marathon we’ve organised, helping to raise both awareness and support for the wider work of Many Hands.

These events are part of a wider, ongoing effort to support communities in Zambia.

WHAT YOUR SUPPORT ENABLES

This GoFundMe supports the ongoing work of Many Hands in Zambia, particularly in communities around Chisekesi and Lochinvar in Monze District and around Chikankata Hospital and District.

Your support helps create and sustain spaces where people can talk openly about addiction and find support through faith and community. It enables persons to be supported in recovery, young people to step out of cycles of substance abuse and into purpose, and communities to grow in understanding, connection, and shared responsibility.

It also allows us to respond to practical needs as they arise — including projects such as the development of boys’ dormitory facilities and other community-based initiatives.

At the centre of this work is a simple belief: that lasting change happens in relationship — with God, with ourselves, and with one another.

HOW WE WORK

Many Hands works alongside communities to respond to addiction, substance abuse, and mental health in a way that is relational, faith-grounded, and locally owned.

We create space for open conversations that build understanding and reduce stigma, walk alongside persons in recovery, and support the development of community-led networks that can sustain this work over time.

Alongside this, we are developing safe spaces for counselling and wellbeing, engaging with young people to build hope and purpose, and exploring opportunities that provide skills, dignity, and a renewed sense of identity for those in recovery.

This work is shaped and carried by a committed team in Zambia, with local leadership and ownership at its core.

HOW IT STARTED

Many Hands began following a visit in February 2022, when connections were made with the community in Lochinvar, including the local school and families from the Twa community.

Conversations highlighted real challenges — including basic living conditions for boarding pupils and limited local facilities. Out of these relationships, Many Hands was formed in response, with a desire to support both practical needs and the wider community.

Over time, this has grown into a wider focus on addiction recovery, prevention, and community wellbeing.
