Hello, my name is Veda Page, owner of Just Like Mama's restaurant in Maywood, IL. Just Like Mama's restaurant started as a home-based business that grew rapidly. I am asking for help because my husband suffered a stroke 4 months ago while driving home from work, which left us devastated financially.
He was the sole provider for the family, and we were left with no income.
However, the income that was coming in from the restaurant I had to use to take care of home, as so many of us would have done.
After facing so many challenges, losing over $50,000 moving to the location in Berkeley, Illinois, after finding out the landlord was not the landlord, building out my current location for over $60k has left me stressed out and praying for a miracle.
I found this incredible place in Maywood where I am currently. It's a restaurant on one side and an event space on the other.
I have hosted wedding receptions, birthday parties, repasses, graduation parties, and so many other joyous events.
Now I'm facing eviction because the money that I had had to go for medical bills and rent. I'm facing losing my restaurant, but I continue to think about others. When the SNAP benefits were shut off on the 1st of November, I started posting on all social media platforms that Just Like Mama's would be feeding the community until the SNAP benefits are recovered. Today I fed over 200 people. I have been a pillar in the community for years, and now I need my community to be a pillar for me.
Any donation that's given is truly appreciated. You can go to my website www.justlikemamascatering.com to hear my story, view pictures, and learn more about me. Please share and donate so I won't lose my restaurant.
Thank you
