Mason's Mobility Mission
Mason was born on April 24, 2009 via emergency c-section weighing in at only 3 lbs. He came into this world fighting and continues to fight every day - he fights to breath, he fights to learn new skills, he fights to eat and he fights to move. Last year, he was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called NGLY1; he was the 17th child in the world to be diagnosed and to date there are now 23 documented children world-wide. This disorder causes abnormalities in the metabolic processes in his body which wreaks havoc on other vitally important systems. The result of this is a severe seizure and movement disorder (Mason never stops twitching or moving), which makes it difficult to balance, which is why he cannot stand or walk independently. While Mason cannot talk, walk or understand basic commands, there is a light on inside of him and what he can do is communicate in his own way. His smile can light up a room and he gives, without a doubt, the best hugs in the entire world!
Mason loves to be active and go fast! One of his favorite things to do is go for a run in his jogging stroller and he used to love riding on the back of a bike...however now he's too big for his stroller and bike seat. This is where Mason's Mobility Mission comes in. We want Mason to have the same quality of life every other kid his age has and be able to bike ride with his family or take runs in a stroller that fits him. There is a bike trailer and adaptive jogging stroller that will both grow with him as he gets older and bigger. We need your help to continue to give Mason the ability to feel the wind in his hair and enjoy all those actvities he loves so much. He is an amazing little boy who lights up everyone's life who he comes in contact with and he continues to fight every day to have the best life possible. He is so lucky to have so many incredible people who want to help increase the quality of his life. No matter what - we want to thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about Mason's story, he's a special little angel.
