According to the 2024 Annual Homeless Assessment Report, roughly 770,000 people experienced homelessness on a single night in January 2024 — about an 18% increase from 2023. Among them, about 64% were staying in sheltered locations and 36% were unsheltered.

Homelessness does not discriminate by age or race, as adults and children from all different backgrounds are affected. My passion for helping the homeless has led me to restart and improve an initiative my sister started 4 years ago called “Bagels and Sox”. By donating breakfast items and socks, we can help people who struggle with homelessness. Because shelters cannot accept used socks, even those in good condition, they are in need of new, quality socks. Socks are the most requested item shelters ask for as they provide warmth, comfort, and defense against weather and several health problems.

Bagels and Sox provides breakfast and socks to homeless shelters in Newark, Orange, Montclair, and Morristown.
