As some of you may know, baby Aaron, youngest son of Alyssa and Rene was diagnosed on May 14, 2022 with Leukemia (B-ALL) at just 14 months old. He is the baby of our family and yet the strongest one! Aaron has always been such a happy baby and even now through his toughest battle, he continues to show perseverance through his strength! He is our little warrior! Aaron’s little body has been through so much and yet he continues to laugh and smile through it all.. Aaron has been in remission since June 14, 2022 but still has a long fight ahead of him..

This is only the beginning for the family, they have a very long road ahead of them. Aaron is currently in consolidation which is the second phase out of three which happens to be the most intense phase that will last a few months. Chemo treatment for ALL is divided into 3 phases. 1. Induction (short + intense and last about a month), 2. Consolidation (the MOST intense and typically last for a few months), and 3. Maintenance (post-consolidation, less intense but typically last for 2 years).

Baby Aaron is currently receiving lumbar punctures with chemo on a weekly basis. All of these treatments mean long drives + long stays at CHLA which has taken a toll on their family. Rene is their only source of income as Alyssa is a stay at home mommy of 4 children with their oldest only being 6 years old.

Along with weekly treatments there have been unexpected hospital admissions due to Aaron’s sensitive immune system. This too has taken a toll on the family financially as Rene is split between work and being there for his family. Therefore, we are fundraising to help take some financial burden off of them so they can focus on their babies and getting baby Aaron back to his happy, loving and silly little self..
