Levi was removed from his mother’s care after a flawed Child in Need of Assistance (CINA) action that relied on outdated and irrelevant information. We’re raising funds for the legal fight to bring him safely home.
Main Story
On February 8, 2024, our family’s life changed overnight. Levi was abruptly taken from his mother, Courtney, during what began as a misunderstanding in a protective-order dispute. After months of hearings and mounting legal costs, Levi was finally back with Courtney with 50/50 custody with his father on July 31, 2024, and life began to feel normal again. Although the maternal grandparents remained blocked from seeing Levi until certain requirements were met. They cost another $3,500.
Then, on September 9, 2025, everything unraveled once more. Courtney filed for a protective order against the father, which was granted the same day.
But the very next morning, September 10, 2025, CPS went to Levi’s school without warning and removed him from his mother’s care, placing him in “temporary shelter care” under the custody of his father’s parents. On Sep 22nd the PO was dropped on the father and Levi was transferred into the temporary full custody of his father under a CINA petition.
Courtney is allowed supervised visitation for 1 hour a week, and this will continue until 7 November.
As of this writing, it has been 33 days since Levi was taken again.
The CINA petition relies on material that is not only 18 months old—it is irrelevant and outdated. It reuses discredited information from early 2024 that has already been challenged in court and ignores Levi’s own statements that he is safe and loved with his mother.
Levi’s grandparents, Michael and Lori Williams, have fought relentlessly alongside Courtney to expose these errors, while continuing to face crushing legal expenses and emotional exhaustion. Despite complete cooperation and transparency, CPS continues to act on a record that has never been corrected. The Williams Family has spent over $50,000 fighting this, and this does not include lost wages.
