Hello. My name is Susan, but 3 of my favorite people know me as MiMi. I am attempting to raise funds for my son and his family. Over the last 3 months, my so. And his family lived with my husband and I while they worked on updating their little house to accommodate baby number 3. My husband (Jon’s dad), Jon, and his wife, Keely worked on the house every single day while I was on “MiMi duty with the 3 little ones. They finally finished and were able to move back home. They have literally been there 3 days and two nights. This morning they woke us to sewage pouring out of both toilets, overflowing the bathtub in one bathroom and the shower in the other. It literally flooded the house, their brand new (to them) home. Their freshly painted and decorated new home is now flooded with human waste. We notified the city utilities and they will not cover it because way back in the 1960s, when this subdivision that is now in the middle of the town was built, this ONE BLOCK is considered a “private sewage”. My son’s house is at the end of the block, which runs down hill. None of the other neighbors feel responsible or have any interest in helping because their drains work just fine (even though it is their sewage in my sons house). It is through no fault at all of my son that this happened to him and his family. They spent every last dime they had on the renovation that was completed four days ago. The clean up and damage repair estimate we received comes to $25k. That does not even include the $2-$5k for the work they will have to have done to attempt to fix the issue that caused this mess. As his parents, we would love to be able to just cut them a check for whatever is needed, but that is just not possible. I have never done this before so I don’t know if I gave too much or not enough information. Nonetheless, we desperately need help!
