I am Cyrille Njikeng and I am a senior at Lehman College of the City University of New York. My family and I decided to create My Sister Cares Foundation in memory of my late sister Azangleke Sheila Frieda who died in Cameroon in 2011.
Sheila, as she is affectionately known, was a dedicated humanitarian who helped orphans with clothing and school tuition. She was a very caring person who always put the needs of others before hers. Creating this orphanage in Africa will not only keep her memory alive but it will also continue the legacy she left behind.
My Sister Cares Foundation is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to giving food, shelter and clothing to orphans in Africa. It will also focus on creating public libraries to encourage reading and reduce illiteracy in our communities.
My Sister Cares Foundation wants to offer a second chance to orphans by building a safe environment that they can call home.
Our first orphanage will be built in the South west region of Cameroon, in a small city called Muea. Help us make to realize this dream and put a smile on these children faces.

According to United Nations, children orphaned by HIV AIDS represents about 25 percent of Cameroon’s total population.
Due to AIDS, there were an estimated 510,00 orphans ages 0 – 17 in the year 2013.
By 2020, this number is projected to increase to 480,000 or more.
Providing appropriate support and care for orphans and vulnerable children poses challenges for both families and society.
Many orphans and vulnerable children live outside of family support. Many are marginalized, stigmatized, and discriminated against.
Consequently, they are exposed to harmful conditions such as lack of schooling, illiteracy, begging, pedophilia, juvenile delinquency, prostitution, and the transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
In Cameroon, about 200,000 children move around the streets of our cities and villages daily. Most of these children are abandoned by their parents, thus orphaned and can’t tell you where or who their parents are.
Some of them get involved in drugs, street life and they become delinquent in the society.
My Sister Cares Foundation will provide these children with a stable home, medical treatment, love and nurturing, self-empowerment, quality education, and the basic life-skills to keep moving forward.
My Sister Cares Foundation will rehabilitate and equip these children psychologically, socially, physically, and spiritually.
This support will enable them to become the leaders of tomorrow.
