Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of being a mother. I envisioned the birth of my children as a beautiful moment in time where nothing else mattered but that moment! After I delivered my first son in the hospital it was in fact a great blessing...but i felt like something was missing...this should have been a time of great joy and happiness but for some reason I was sad; maybe it was the epidural or maybe it was the drugs they kept giving me after i delivered, or maybe it was the fact that i was confined to a bed with a catheter attached to me that didnt allow to me to be fully present in the presence of my present from God.
It was after my son was born that I became fascinated and passionate about holistic living. I set out on a journey to live cleaner, healthier, and more abundant with positive energy. I swore that the next baby I would give birth to would be on my terms, naturally without medicine, in my home with a midwife...unfortunately i let the world's (my family and friends) opinions influence me and instill a sense of fear into me that made me doubt the warrior goddess I am. I had my second son in the hospital with an epidural and more drugs and instantly fell into a deep dark depression. I was ashamed that I didn't follow through with my plan and even more sad that I was stuck in a hospital bed all alone with a new born baby by my side because my husband had to be home tending to my 1.5 year old son because he was not welcome in the room with us. The nurses were cold and didn't care about my emotional state. They fed me terrible food and kept offering me drugs that kept me numb. After I was discharged, I went home without any proper training on how to deal with postpartum depression...which I struggled with for 1 year.
It took me a lot of strength and will power to make it back to center where I remembered my lifes calling which was to be an Earth Mama... Once I was re-introduced to her, I went back to school and became a certified health and life coach on a constant journey of practicing holistic living. I became consciuous of everything I did and continue to do...I am not perfect but I can finally say I am proud of the woman I have become!
I didn't think I would have another chance at fullfilling my God given right to birth another baby on my terms... until I found out 5 months ago I was expecting baby # 3 and instantly I knew that this was the ONE! Ironically, my insurance is no longer active and I feel that this was definitely the right nudge in the home birth direction.
This will be the baby that allows me to connect with my Warrior Goddess; the true Earth Mama that I am! This will be my chance to enter a portal that many women from generations and generations have entered...I want to connect to those women. I want to feel what my great grandmother felt, what my grandmother felt and every other woman felt when she labored and birthed her child naturally. This is my rite of passage as a mother and as a woman!
I knew I had to find the right midwife to guide me through this experience. After interviewing many midwives, it dawned on me that I don't have the luxury to pay for this dream of mine to happen. I still continued to search in hopes that the money would just manifest itself. But I could not find a midwife that I vibed with and I became hopeless that i would be able to afford it...
And then the universe sent her to me...A woman overheard me talking to a friend about my quest to deliver this baby at home and my fear of not being able to find a midwife. She approached me and told me to look no further and gave me Beth's number... I met Beth from Birthing Rhythm Midwifery at 20 Weeks of my pregnancy and I knew in my heart that she was meant for me. My first visit with her and her energy moved me, her confidence soothed me and she gave me the option to pay her in 3 payments in the span of the next 16 weeks.
After meeting with her I instantly felt empowered and have such a deep sense of trust that she will deliver this baby into the world on my terms, in my home, and with my tribe!
I am reaching out to my community in hopes that my fellow sisters (and misters) understand my desire for a natural home birth. I am hoping to raise enough money to pay my midwife and to document the whole experience/birth and share it with the world!
