Volunteering trip to Africa
Donation protected
Hello my name is Isabella and I am trying to raise money to go on a volunteering trip to South Africa this summer, to help give medical care to remote villages! I found a program called GLA where I can travel to many different types of places to volunteer with animal conservation groups, health organizations or educational programs. I was split between 2 different programs, a Global Health Initiative in South Africa where I will bring medical supplies and care to people in rural areas or a program to help preserve animals in conservation projects. I decided to do the healthcare initiative because in the future I hope to pursue a medical career. Thoughout my life I have struggled with ADHD. I remember teachers, friends and neighbors saying because of it I will not succeed like my peers. Many of these people only saw my challenges. But my mother was always there to tell me that I can do anything I dream of as long as I work hard and remain flexible, adaptable and resilient. She built me up when others tried to tear me down. Her favorite thing to do was remind me of all those people with ADHD who succeeded. Having my brother dress like Michael Phelps for Halloween and singing along with Adam Levine in the car. That really kept me motivated to go for anything that I dreamed of. It drove me to get the best grades possible, advocate for myself and help others. At school, I play Tennis, Badminton and am a member of Science Olympiad. I also love to volunteer at my local library. Now instead of staying home during the summer, I want to go and do something truly meaningful, help others get medical care. Something that I believe should be given to everyone!
All of the money that I raise will go towards paying for the flight and the volunteering opportunity. If I can raise more than 6,000 I will also go on the volunteering opportunity to help an animal conservation. I am currently babysitting on weekends and have saved my check from working at the election office in our county.
Any donation, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated! One day I hope someone’s Mom will read an article, in ADDITUDE magazine about me to their child with ADHD. Thank you for your time.
