Finding out you have cancer sucks, and I would not wish it on anyone, sadly, 1 in 2 people will be affected by Cancer, which is so scary.

I was diagnosed with stage 3 bowel cancer back in 2017, which was a huge shock, and it changed my life forever. Today, Cancer is now my new "norm" and a way of life and I, like others have to deal with it every single day, its rubbish!

I am now living with stage 4 incurable cancer, its spread to my liver and lungs, I have had 50+ rounds of chemotherapy, multiple operations, radiotherapy. On the positive side, I have done my best to keep positive and live a healthy life to support and improve my outcome.

This means I still do a little cycling, which I love and have always done for many years pre cancer but now its gentle and good therapy for the mind.

My life is all about trying to keep going and living as long as I can, so that I can enjoy the important things in my life, family, friends and also helping and supporting others.

Last year I came across THE CANCER CLUB, which is a charity for men with cancer, the charity focuses on getting men talking, which is the hardest thing sometimes for anyone to do with cancer. The charity enabled me to meet new friends with things in common, not just cancer and also attend sporting social events FREE, so that I could meet face to face other men in the same situation.

Combining my love for cycling and gratitude for The Cancer Club, I have signed up to ride the Tour de 4, founded by Sir Chris Hoy. It’s a little bike ride in Scotland, cycling with people affected by cancer.

Please note this is not a challenge, it’s a leisurely ride for me as I will be still on chemotherapy, so will need to take it easy, but it’s a big thank you to The Cancer Club for supporting me and my family through what is a very challenging and rubbish time.
