My younger brother, Brian, has stage 4 cancer and decided he wanted to join Chris Hoy and participate in his Tour de 4 sponsored cycle, raising awareness of living with S4 cancer and to raise money for various cancer charities.
Cycling has been a big part of Brian's life, he recently switched to an electric bike to enable him to contine cycling with his friends. Jem and I decided to join him on this challenge. Unfortunately Brian has since been diagnosed with a brain tumour on top of the 4 other tumours he is living with. This has meant he is now unable to take part in the cycle. He remains remarkably positive and is living his life the best he can with fabulous encouragement from his partner Karen.
Jem and I have decided we still want to do the cycle, for Brian and all others living with cancer.
My training plan has been hindered by lower back issues, partly due to grandchildren and old age but now getting bike altered to hopefully ease back issues. So last push on training. So far I've only managed 28km
The cycle takes place in Glasgow, from Chris Hoys velodrome. We're planning to do the red route 90km, 1000m ascent with option to switch to blue route, 61km if I don't think I can make it.
