My Survivor Story
Donation protected
Hey y’all, it’s Patrick and I’m excited to share a big announcement!
This fall, I’m applying to Survivor because it has been a dream of mine to be on the show for years and I want to spread awareness for mental illness: there simply cannot be enough said about this issue.
I’ve always been depressed and bipolar without really knowing it, but spring 2020 was particularly rough for me. I got in a bad car accident, thought I had Covid (turned out to be the flu), and had to isolate by myself in my apartment in Athens, which cut me off from the support I so desperately needed at just the wrong time. A few days later, and if my roommate wasn't around on March 31st, 2020 I honestly don’t think I’d still be here. I saw suicide as the only way out, which I know is wrong, but depression was clouding my judgement as it does for so many others.
Survivor was also one of the reasons why I stuck around. It was an all-winners season and I wanted to see who was the best of the best.
Please join me in asking CBS and Survivor to consider my application and help me raise money and awareness for causes I'm passionate about. The money will be divided evenly between UGA’s mental health services, The Nature Conservancy in Georgia, and my own personal journey through mental health.
Every dollar really does count and I know that together we can make a difference.
Being a Georgia bulldog is a huge part of my identity, and although blue and green may be my favorite colors, my blood is red and black. Go dawgs!!
