In 2015 a young woman helped us start a family. She trusted us to provide a loving home for her baby. We welcomed our beautiful daughter Emelia in 2015. Monday, July 9th, we received a call from the adoption agency. Emelia’s birth mom was expecting in November, and hopes that we will provide a home to another baby by welcoming Emelia’s biological sibling into our home. This was joyful but very unexpected news. We had not been planning on adoption at the time and as many who have traveled this journey know, it can be very expensive. In addition to the adoption fees, Emelia’s birth mother is not is a good situation. She is currently homeless and needing financial support. We would like to be able to provide a safe place for her and the growing baby. The adoption agency has estimated these expenses to be $12,000. This means we have raise funds quite quickly to provide a safe place for mom so that Emelia and her biological sibling can be kept together. Emelia happily said we could use her piggy bank but we find it a little short for such a big expense.
