My mums journey to being cancer free

Donation protected
At just 19 I never thought i’d have to face the fear of losing the woman I love most. My mum. After a long battle with cervical cancer we are taking the last step in seeking out possible life-changing treatment in Germany.

In February 2023, my mum was diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer. This news turned our whole lives upside down. Growing up it has just been us two and to hear that I could be losing my mum was something 16 year old me struggled to deal with. Over the next year she went through Bracatherapy and Radiotherapy. Unfortunately due to acts of medical negligence my mums battle didn’t end there. In April 2023 she was left with a multitude of problems that lead to a perforated bladder causing serious infections. Her cancer treatment was significantly delayed because of this. Due to her healthcare providers not reading her notes properly and operating with caution my mums cancers went from a stage 1 to a stage 3 taking a serious toll on her physical and mental health.
After continuous mistreatment in 2024 she moved hospitals to Lincoln in hopes of finding the help she needed. Whilst here she received Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy everyday for 5 weeks. She had one scan after three months stating no change had been made with her cancer, she was left heartbroken but determined to keep fighting. At her six months scan she was told the best thing imaginable, it had gone. My mum lives stress free finally she quite honestly described this news as ‘a weight being lifted off her shoulders’. At a follow up scan three months later she was crushed with the same weight she had once got rid of, it had come back even stronger and had spread further.
This time was a lot different for us both the mental toll was like no other. We had to relive this fear of losing eachother all over again with no end in sight. We were told it wasn’t cure able and that she would have palliative chemotherapy and immunotherapy to try prolong her life. Whilst going through all of this she gained lymphoedema causing her another agonising disease to have to deal with.
My mums journey has be hard and unfair  but I have never seen a woman fight so hard to live. Her determination and courage is unparalleled. At only 39 years old my once crazy, joyous mum has had her life stripped from her in every way possible. So I am here asking for the help of people who care, people who have gone through something similar or who are watching the same happen to someone they love. I’m asking the people who want to help change someone’s life and give them the chance they should’ve been given. I love my mum and we would go to the ends of the earth for the people we love. Thank you for the bottom of my hearts to anyone who has read this far or anyone who has interacted with this post in anyway it means the world. This money will provide her with the treatment in Germany.
