Today, my mom’s apartment burned down, and she and my sisters lost everything they owned in an instant. Even more heartbreaking, they also lost their two beloved cats, Bookie and Beano, who were part of our family. While we are grateful that my mom and sisters made it out safely, the pain of losing their home, their pets, and all their belongings is unimaginable.

My youngest sister, Brooke, has her senior ball this Saturday—a night she’s been looking forward to for so long. But with the fire, she lost everything she had prepared for it—her dress, jewelry, shoes, and makeup are all gone. What should be a special milestone now feels impossible, and I want to do everything I can to help her still have this moment.
