Hi, my name is Sonja and I am fundraising for my mom. At the end of September, Hurricane Ian came in and destroyed many people’s life, my mom was one of them. The rental house she has lived in for the past 6 years was damaged and the landlord refused to fix it which forced her, my grandpa and aunt into a shelter. My grandpa got sick and ended up in hospital then hospice. Not having a safe home to go back to he had to stay in hospice, over two hours away.

Unfortunately, he passed away on November 11, at the age of 97. My worst fear came true with him passing away not home with his family! It has been almost three months and still not able to find an affordable place. There are many people in the same boat! They were staying at a tiny motel until recently and now in an Airbnb they got for free for a month! My mom has major health issues, her car needs work, paying to keep her stuff in storage and only lives on Social Security. I don’t think she has been able to grieve her dad’s passing yet. So if I could give her something extra to help maybe she could stop worrying for a minute. She would NEVER ask for help, that’s why I have to.
