Hi, my name is Owen Young, a local of Abbeyside, Co. Waterford.

I will be taking on my first full marathon by running the Waterford Viking Marathon on 22nd June 2025 with the aim of coming home as close to the 4 hour mark as possible (No small feat for someone who has had his share of knee injuries).

I have decided to set up a GoFundMe in aid of and to acknowledge Carriglea Cáirde Services who provide a variety of support services such as residential, day, respite and multi-disciplinary support to approximately 200 adults with intellectual disability or autism as well as to their families throughout County Waterford.

Having an extended family member with autism who has availed of these facilities for so many years, I have witnessed first hand how vital and invaluable these services are to those who need them in our local community and in West Waterford so this is a cause very close to my heart!

I would greatly appreciate any donation, no matter how small, to this very worthy cause while I continue to clock up the training miles ahead of the big day with every cent raised going directly to Carriglea Cáirde Services to assist in their daily ongoing operations.
