My Little Lemon Tree - Help Provide Cool Supplies for Kids
Hello Everyone!
Today I’m reaching out on behalf of my 9-year-old son.
If you haven’t heard yet, he has started a little Lemonade Stand and is attempting to raise donations!
I wanted to take a minute and give a little backstory as to how “My Little Lemon Tree” – Lemonade Stand came to be…
It all started as a volunteer water stop during a local race in Valpo.

We helped others set up a few tables, put out cups of water and handed them off to runners as they passed by.
We had a great time meeting new people, making new friends, and bonding - while also making a positive contribution.
This experience was a big one for Matti. He loved everything about it and waited with anticipation for an opportunity to volunteer together again.
Unfortunately, family volunteer opportunities like this seemed to be far and few between.
As I’m sure many of you can relate, between the hustle and bustle of everyday life, work, and responsibilities – that doesn’t leave much room for genuine quality family time. This happens to be the case in our home.
As such, my little entrepreneur had the great idea to set-up a Lemonade Stand this summer! His initial intent was for it to be a fun activity for us to do together AND he hoped he could volunteer at a water stop for a race with his Stand!
Then that dream grew a little.

He made an initiative to raise as much money as he could to help local families in need of School Supplies.
He specifically stated that he wants kids from our hometown of Chesterton to be able to, “Pick out cool supplies. Ones they actually want and like.” He hopes to even have enough funds to provide some Friday shirts for kids who attend his school as well.
He has some big ideas and is excited to see what a community can do when you have the drive and put in the effort.

Unbelievably, the amount of community support he had received over the weekend has been overwhelming and we are both so grateful. This has been such a wonderful experience and life lesson for him. It has encouraged him to continue building upon his Lemonade Stand Dreams!
Currently, he is collecting donations through this upcoming weekend, (07/28/2024), but we may decide to extend this cutoff date so he can raise additional funds. I will let him make this decision as the date get closer.
As of Saturday, 7/20/2024, he had raised over $200 already and has been working his butt off!

He set a goal of $1,000.00 and he is determined to hit that goal!!
He believes with $1,000 he can help ALL the kids in town
(The beautiful innocence of a child, am I right?)
We are currently reaching out to local non-profit organizations and charities who might be able to ensure his funds go to families of Chesterton. If you have any suggestions, we’d love to hear from you!
Thank you so much everyone! You’ve all made more of an impact than you know.
Please friend his Lemonade Stand on Facebook to help support his cause.
