My name is Samara Bockelman and behind my smile and joy is a challenging emotional journey.

Have you ever wanted something so much that you would do almost anything to get it? I am here doing something I didn’t think I would need to do. I’m asking for support with my journey to motherhood. I am a 36 year old transracial adoptee. I have had the desire to be a mom with my own biological family since I can remember. Being able to see my own biological family as an adoptee is huge for me.

Those of you who know me, know how much I want to be a mom. However, as a single queer Black femme this journey is not affordable and my insurance does not cover the cost for me to attempt the intrauterine insemination (IUI) procedure more than once. I just completed my first IUI cycle in July and it was not successful. I was heartbroken by this experience. With your love and support I plan to try another cycle of IUI before I re-evaluate and try something different.
