My Ghana Orphanage Volunteer Trip
GHANA ORPGHANAGE VOLUNTEER TRIP- November 2018
Hi everyone!!!! I am beyond excited to have been accepted into the International Volunteers HQ Program in Ghana, where starting November 1st and for 6 weeks, I will be in the Childcare & Medical Outreach Program. I will be providing care for the children at an Orphanage in a rural village in Accra, helping out with the clinic, as well as working with the locals improving infrastructure which will focus on orphanages, community centers, clinics, toilet facilities and schools.
I’ve never been so naïve to think that I can change the world all by myself. However I 100% believe that if you look to the person to your left and right and act selflessly, one person CAN change someone else’s world. Through positive impact, love, support and passion, change can occur for good and create that MUCH needed domino effect of kindness in this world.
Why now? Why an Orphanage in Ghana?
Recently while driving home my husband and I were having a conversation on what fulfills me so that I could find my passion for opening again my own business or seek my next job. In trying to help me figure out what would fulfill me, he asked; What’s your biggest quality? YIKES…. Way to put a girl on the spot…..LOL….. I sighted for what seemed like forever and then answered almost shyly, “Being Kind.” I’ve always had a passionate heart for helping others and seeing the smallest thing that I can do every day to help make someone’s day better.
It was about this time that one of the Instructors at the Soldierfit gym that we go to posted on FB that she was going to Costa Rica with IVHQ to volunteer at a clinic. I literality could not sleep thinking about all the reasons why I should or shouldn’t do this trip. I realized, there will never be a “right time” to embark on a trip of this nature. I think many people never fulfill their true purpose in life because they are always looking for the "right time". It becomes almost an excuse that we use when we are nervous and uncomfortably looking for a way out.
While there may never be a “right time” to put my life in the States on hold for six weeks, the present is ALWAYS the right time to share kindness, love and compassion for the parentless children anywhere in the world. I've decided that NOW, with God's blessing and your selfless support, is the "right time".
I am asking for any kind of support to make this trip happen!
The money donated will go to helping cover some of the cost of volunteer fees once in Ghana. However, majority of it will go to the much needed supplies the kids in the Orphanage and Clinic where I will be working at need. This money will be used for things such as : Malaria Kits, medicine, gauze, saline, shoes, school supplies, books and general school items for these children.
Whether it be 5 dollars or 50 dollars, every little bit will add up. As a special thank you, I’ll mail a hand-written postcard from Ghana to each and every person who donates with lots of photos from the kiddos to show you guys first-hand how grateful your donations will be and the impact they'll have on the children's lives. If there is anything in particular you would like your money to go towards don't be afraid to let me know.
From not only myself but from the children of Ghana and IVHQ.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all for your amazing help!
